Kind of greyish/dark brown in colour. The soles are slippery at first because they are genuine leather too so I might get them resoled as I know these boots will last for a very long time. Bottoms are slippery as others stated, nice leather, true 14 in calf ( I had some gap but still looked good), foot true medium (narrow feet will need insert or thick socks) I wear 7.5 to 8 in boots & have narrow feet. 7.5 were a better fit. 8 slipped in heel a bit more. ..." The leather is thick but doesn't look straight out of the box (no creases, not shiny, etc.), it has a nice worn look to it. The bottoms are slick, but manageable (just tricky on snow & ice).
