I have worn Birkenstocks for years and my current pairs were so worn I could not read the size. I went by the size chart. I wear a 9 or 9.5 women's shoe and ordered the size 40 EU suggested. Second, I catch the toes and bottoms when walking and that trips me up almost to the point of falling.
